about

The entirety of this recording was captured during the late hours of June 2nd, 2016. When I booked the studio, my only intention was to blow off some steam by improvising and experimenting freely (and loudly) in a foreign space. To record it would be strictly for my own amusement...

Once a handful of microphones were placed around the room, I closed the door and began to play. I remember feeling an excitement and awe from the sounds that were appearing. It was as if they were beamed from a secret realm that I had been allowed to communicate with for a couple of hours, never to return.

After a few days passed, I listened back to the recording and felt inspired to share it. It took several treks through the whole thing to decide where to trim some of the fat, but after all of my edits, about 30 minutes have been extracted from the source (you will have to trust me that it was for the better). However, the order of the “movements” remain in tact to keep the flow of the improvisation as close to how it happened as possible.

The sound of freedom. Unapologetic. Vulnerable. I know you have probably spent many joyful moments belting out strange voices and saying outlandish things when nobody else is around. How could you not? Maybe you even possess the confidence to do it in public. This is sort of a musical version of that.
